Meet our founders

The innovative concept for SPORTINGHOUSE comes from founders and benefactors Matthias and Christian Schenk, who will also be involved in running the business. Over the past 20 years, the brothers have turned a small wholesale business run as a sideline into the internationally active e-commerce company SPRINTIS Schenk GmbH & Co. KG which has over 100 employees and a turnover of more than €30 million.

When it comes to innovative ideas, the Schenk brothers set standards in the region: in Würzburg’s Zellerau district, a neighborhood of the city, they have created the SPRINTIS Business & Beach Campus for their rapidly growing e-commerce company. Located directly opposite the Bürgerbräu site, this visionary project was occupied in autumn 2019 by their own company as well as four additional external office units.

SPRINTIS’s diverse commitments extend to regional and national social projects as well as to the promotion of sport in the region: SPRINTIS is one of the main sponsors of the FIT ONE Würzburg Baskets and is entering its fifteenth year as a member of the partner network. In addition, Christian Schenk is also involved in the club as a shareholder.

In 2022, SPRINTIS also founded the Fördergemeinschaft Basketball e.V. (Basketball Support Association), and Christian Schenk is both a board member of TG Veitshöchheim and a sponsor of the club’s own basketball team.

ES47 SCHENK GbR was founded as a project company by the developers Christian and Matthias Schenk and serves as the landlord of the building.

We are delighted to be able to implement this innovative concept in Margetshöchheim. Our boarding house offers business people who are travelling in Mainfranken for short or longer periods not only first-class accommodation, but also a home-from-home feeling with long-stay facilities. Guests staying in the apartments can also keep fit away from home and maintain their healthy lifestyle in the large fitness area with sauna. We are delighted to be implementing this unique concept, and for a good cause too: every booking supports the VR-Bank Würzburg Baskets Academy.

Good youth development rests on two essential pillars: skilled coaches and ample court time. With the completion of the new basketball court at SPORTINGHOUSE, ideal conditions are now in place to ensure outstanding youth work for years to come. This investment underlines Würzburg’s commitment to growing and strengthening its basketball community.

As an architect, I am proud to be part of a project that not only creates forward-looking sports infrastructure, but also addresses an important issue: building in existing structures.
By revitalising a property that has been vacant for a long time, a place of encounter, inspiration and opportunity is being created.
The SPORTINGHOUSE will promote young sporting talent in our region and provide long-term positive impetus for the community and beyond.

Sustainability is also a top priority for us:

The building is being constructed in accordance with the KfW40 standard, preserving much of the existing structure and without sealing new areas. A large photovoltaic system with approx. 200 kWp and ‘intelligent building management’ conserve resources.
