Our SPORTINGHOUSE is located in the municipality of Margetshöchheim in the Main Valley near Würzburg. Due to its special climatic conditions and exotic vegetation, Margetshöchheim is affectionately known as ‘Morocco’. Due to its basin location, temperatures in the summer months can be slightly higher than in neighbouring towns. These climatic conditions have led to plants that are actually native to North African countries thriving in Margetshöchheim. In addition to exotic fruits such as kiwis, figs and bananas, even cacti grow here in the open air.
The locals humorously call their town ‘Maroggo’. The spelling is partly due to a joking Franconian pronunciation, but may also allude to the enjoyment of local wine specialities.
